Osteoporosis for patients
Bones are in constant remodeling, with formation and reabsorption. Osteoporosis is characterized by disequilibrium between production and reabsorption, resulting in loss of bone mass and fractures. There are multiple causes, the most frequent one being secondary to hormonal deficiency, due to the menopause. Not well known is the Osteoporosis associated to the Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, also known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility or EDS type III, which affects 15 % of men and women under age 30.
